Breast reduction
Breast reduction is used to treat breast hyperplasia responsible for back pain and constant embarrassment.
Breast reduction in Tunisia is designed to reduce the weight and size of the breasts. A lot a women suffer from back pain caused by overdeveloped breasts and wish to address this issue. Overdeveloped breasts are also often a source of embarrassment in public and difficulties finding adapted clothes / underwear, not to mention a decreased mobility which makes exercising a lot more difficult.

The procedure
During surgery, glandular, fat and skin tissue are removed. The breasts are then reshaped and the nipple-areolar complex is repositioned if necessary with fine sutures.
You need to plan 7 to 10 days off work, but the resting period varies depending on the nature of your work. Heavy lifting and exercise are prohibited during 6 weeks following surgery. A postoperative compression bra must be worn night and day during 3 weeks.
Breast reduction is performed under general anesthesia and is 2 to 4 hours long. A hospitalization of 48 hours is usually required for this procedure.
Breast reduction scars
The incision used for a breast reduction is the same as the breast lift incision : it starts around the areola and goes vertically down to the under breast fold (inframammary fold) to end up along this fold. Similarly to the breast lift procedure, the incision can be more or less shortened depending on the extent of the reduction.
Is breast reduction permanent ?
Yes, the result of the procedure is considered permanent. That being said, fat cells in the breasts can grow if you gain weight. Similarly, during pregnancy, breast tissue swell or store milk. Certain natural and synthetic hormones can also have the same effect. If you’re taking hormonal supplement after your surgery, you might see a breast volume increase as a side effect.
Results of breast reduction in Tunisia
The breast volume and weight reduction can be seen and experienced right after surgery. If the procedure was performed to alleviate back pain, the relief is usually immediate. Once the swelling has gone down, you’ll be able to appreciate the new shape and position of your breasts.
At what age is breast reduction possible ?
Breast reduction surgery can be beneficial to patients starting from the end of growth. Over time, hypertrophic breasts cause stretch marks in the breasts’ skin envelope and cause de skin to stretch under the effect of breast tissue weight. Hypertrophic breasts also cause chronic back, neck and shoulder pain.
It is worth noting that there is a risk of breast tissue overgrowth after breast reduction surgery if the procedure is performed before the end of growth.
Is breastfeeding still possible after breast reduction surgery ?
Breastfeeding is still possible after the procedure, but certain procedures included higher risks of severed milk ducts. In case of additional risks of that happening, patients are warned beforehand by their surgeon.

Patients have to stop working out for 1 to 2 months following surgery, even though walking may be recommended as soon as possible.

Breast surgery time depends on the amount of breast tissue to be removed, therefore it can range from 2 to 4 hours.
Do I have to stop smoking to be eligible for surgery ?
Patients will have to stop smoking 1 month before and after surgery because of the risk of necrosis.
Is there a risk of sensitivity loss after breast reduction surgery ?
Sensitivity issues are not rare after breast surgery, but those are temporary and usually resolve once the recovery is complete.
