Expect an ajustment period after surgery
It’s important to let the body recover from surgery and to get used to breast implants. After surgery, the breasts are swollen so they don’t look like what the should normally. Final results can be seen around 2 to 3 months after surgery. Breast implants feel different depending on the filling material and might require a certain adaptation time.
Same implants, different results
One way or another, patients have to abandon the idea of getting the exact same replica of a celebrity’s breasts. Implants with the same size and shape can look significantly different on two different patients. Their appearance varies depending on morphology, existing breast tissues and their size, rib cage width, etc.
Experienced surgeons don’t guarantee that implants will look exactly the same as the ones described by the patient or shown in a photo, simply because breast augmentation with implants is not always highly predictable.
Breasts appearance will change overt time no matter what
Another thing patients need to realize is that breasts change with time, even if with implants. While implants themselves don’t change, the woman’s body does, because of weight fluctuations, pregnancies, breast feeding or simply because of natural aging.
Natural breast augmentation
There’s another breast augmentation technique : fat grafting. During this procedure, fat is harvested in areas where fat cells are abundant (the thighs, stomach and flanks being the most frequent harvesting sites) and reinjected in the breasts for shape improvement and size increasing purposes. While fat grafting can’t offer more than 1 cup size increase, the result is guaranteed to be natural. Once the engraftment of the transferred fat cells is complete, the result can be considered as definitive, but more susceptible to weight fluctuations and natural aging.
